Conferences
are an essential component of science. Jan describes how informal
discussion with enthusiastic researchers can lead to new ideas, and
suggests that difficult questions after a presentation can lead to
better research.
Jan also raises an issue which should concern us all: “research in the last years is mainly focused on producing very fast results without focussing on the thoroughness”.
